Unlimited spare parts

Hello, I’m Steven the living, reconstructive, block of flesh and this is an interview about, well, me and my thing.

When I lose parts of my body, I can regrow or reattach them and I did it over 400 times now. As an example, the little finger you can see on the floor next to me, I cut it off so that it can keep reminding me of all the times I lost different parts.

The first time it was to leukemia, not a nice feeling, I would say quite the inconvenience actually. The second time was to a weirdly placed red brick. You can’t tell how sharp the edges of a brick are, but oh boy, let me tell you. Sharp as uhhhh…well sharper than you’d expect from the edge of a concrete brick, at least! Anyway, I was passing by, right next to where some fine people were doing some construction work, one of them was walking on some planks and accidentally kicked one of those blocks of mud that severed me from my finger. Well, I actually squashed it first; I was sitting down, taking a break (next to a construction site, I know, dumb me) , had to cut it off, then used some of my magic to make it look presentable.

Maybe I should create a new part, or even a new body, this one seems prone to decennial accidents or diseases. Well, at least it works like a human body, so I guess that’s an advantage. Life insurance was always in the back of my mind, but I don’t believe that someone like me would be beloved in such a community, I should give them another hundred or two hundred years maybe.

I managed to work it out until now with rebuilding and reattaching the old parts back, and believe me, it’s quite the pain to do it, literally, but I am scared of the other pain. You know, the one when you change a piece of yourself. Or everything. I did do it, once. It was, uhm, something else, and I don’t know I could go over it again.

Or maybe reset it all, again and again.
